Church Records

Church records of the major denominations in Annapolis County vary in their usefulness to the researcher. The vital statistics they contain range from the very good (Church of England) to the less than detailed (Baptist, who do not practice infant baptism). Researchers looking for their Baptist roots are aided by the Christian Messenger, the Baptist paper published between 1837 and 1884. Excerpts from that publication relating to individuals of the Annapolis area are held by AHS. Most Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregation churches in Canada combined their congregations in 1919 to form the United Church of Canada.
